Shirley Mae Tackman

Obituary Shirley Mae (Radabaugh) Tackman, age 79, of Guttenberg, IA, died Monday, August 29, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, IA. Shirley was born on January 6, 1943, in Graham, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Addie Mae (Bolsinger) Radabaugh. She attended the Graham country school before attending "town school" and graduating from Guttenberg High School in the class of 1961. On October 5, 1968, Shirley was united in marriage with Robert Tackman and together they were blessed with a daughter, Julie. Shirley worked throughout her life beginning at the Egg Plant in Guttenberg, Muters/Trademark, and Nordic Forge before her retirement. Retirement provided her the opportunity to begin what would be her favorite "job" as babysitter to her granddaughter "lucky penny" Ellie. Shirley was blessed with an avid appetite for reading from her dad and was known to stay up until the wee hours reading. She loved country music and learned how to play guitar from a neighbor in Graham and had her notebooks with popular songs of the time with chords marked above the lyrics. A lifelong love for crafting also began when she was taught how to crochet by her Aunt Eleanor Bolsinger. Craft painting also interested her and she decorated many jars/tins/rocks and misc. wood items which were made for friends and family or were sold at local craft fairs. Additionally, she was also an excellent talent in finishing/varnishing wood items her husband Bob would build and they would sell at local craft fairs or farmers markets. Shirley is survived by her daughter Julie (Franklyn) Davis; granddaughter, Elizabeth "Ellie" Davis; 4 siblings, Robert (Lori) Radabaugh, Elmer (Sharon) Radabaugh, Betty (Ronnie) Hinzman, Bonnie Purman and many other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Addie Mae; infant brother Jackie Radabaugh and her husband Robert Tackman in 2016.
