Shirley Naber

DYERSVILLE, IOWA Shirley A. Naber, 86, of Dyersville, Iowa died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Luther Manor in Dubuque. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville where a Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate and burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in New Vienna. Kramer Funeral Home is assisting the family. Shirley was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Ben J. and Leonora E. (Schemmel) Naber. She attended area rural schools and earned her high school diploma from the American School of Chicago after only two years of home study. She assisted her parents on the farm until their retirement. She then worked at Coil-Wal (now Modernfold) and finally as a dispatcher for the Dyersville Police Department, retiring in 1989. She loved traveling to Europe, Asia and the 50 states until her health would no longer allow it. Survivors include an aunt, Ida Breitbach of Cascade and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
