Shirley Plagman

Shirley (Gassman) Plagman, age 77, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. She was born on August 3, 1936, in Dubuque Iowa to Fred and Dolly (Carrier) Gassman. Shirley received her education locally at St. Marys Catholic School. She later met the love of her life LaVerne Charles Plagman and they were married on May 28, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. Survivors include four daughters, Lila (Huston) Irvin of Ottawa ILL, Lavonne (Don) Evanson of Mt. Holley NC, Wendy (Kenton) Shanbeck of Manchester and Mary (Breyon) Gibson of Independence; five sons, Robert (Cindy) Plagman of Earlville, Charles (Geronda) of Independence MO, Peter (Jane) Plagman of Elkader, Andy (Stacey) Plagman of Elkader and LaVern (Becci) Plagman of Guttenberg; 30 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Deloras Gordon, Annamae Hamann and Susie Saeugling. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son Alan, one grandson, Nathan; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.Memorial Service: Monday 11:00 A.M.
