Shirley A. Theisen, 80, of Holy Cross, Iowa died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Oak Park Place, Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. Shirley was born December 7, 1935, in Dubuque, the daughter of Joseph and Christina (Herbst ) Manders. She married James William Theisen on October 27, 1956 at St. Raphael Cathedral in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends whom will miss her dearly. She also enjoyed playing cards and was known to be one of the best bakers as well as an awesome canner which she generously shared with others. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 59 years, Jim, one son, Ken (Cyndi) Theisen of Holy Cross, three daughters: Patty (Pat) Steffen of Luxemburg, Nancy (Joe) Oberbroeckling of Asbury, Karen Ludovissy of North Buena Vista, 9 grandchildren: Christie, Kyle (Justine), Keith, Ben (Lacey) Zach, Jake, Amber, Hanna, Emma, Great Grandchild: Noah whom she adored, siblings: Delbert, Vincent (Mary), Harold, George, Luella (Paul) Lueken, Arlene Kohn, Darlene Klostermann, Mary Jane Burcham, Margie (Pat) Steger. in-laws: Bill and Rita Theisen, Bill Bohr, Rosie Manders, Marie Manders and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ronald J. Theisen in 2003, parents-in-law: Lawrence and Cecelia Theisen, son-in-law, Lynn Ludovissy, siblings and in law’s: Sylvester, Lester (Doris), LaVern, Norman, Jerome (Kay), Alice Manders, Diane Manders, Jim Kohn, Carl Klostermann, Betty Theisen, and Mary Kay Bohr Special thanks to Oak Park Place, John & Diane Brownell, and Hospice of Dubuque.
