Sr Fred Moore

Fred Burdett Moore Sr. was born the son of a James and Mary (Schmitt) Moore on April 3, 1918 in Morse Iowa. He passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Fred received ten years of education from the Urbana High School and spent many years farming. He also operated meat lockers in Walker, Prairie du Chien Wis, and Guttenberg over the years. On February 25, 1957, Fred married Shirley Schofield at the Little Brown Church. Fred was a charter member and past president of the Walker Lions Club. He served on the church council at St. Johns in Guttenberg and the Lutheran Home Board. He was the Polka President of Iowa and enjoyed playing the accordion. Freds memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Shirley Moore; three daughters, Deana (Steve) Cornwell of Guttenberg, Patricia (Delton) Parker of Marlin, Texas and Lois (Delwin) Henry of Floyd, IA; three sons, James (Dorothy) Moore of Mount Vernon, Everett (Margaret) Moore of Walker, and Leo Moore Schmickle of Toddville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Carolyn Kearns of Cedar Rapids, Norma Rouse of Independence, Wilma (Harold) Siedel of Lime springs, and Doris (Don) Adams of Riceville; one brother Lester (Esther) Moore of Riceville. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; one son Fred Moore Jr.; one sister Mildred Bearbower and one brother Delbert Moore.Visitation: Saturday 9:00 - 11:00 A.M.
