GUTTENBERG, IOWA
Steve E. Anderegg, age 73, of Guttenberg, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at his home. He was born on July 15, 1950, the son of Oakley and Josephine (Hankes) Anderegg. On August 14, 1971, Steve was united in marriage with Connie Kann at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. This union blessed them with four children.
Steve was proud of the farm where he and Connie successfully raised their children by working together. Grandchildren remember the peace and joy of the farm with rides in the tractor to deliver silage to the pasture for the cows and bottle feeding many calves, saying they were the luckiest animals ever because they were taken care of by Grandpa.
Steve had a love of nature and interest in archaeology, and his children and grandchildren fondly remember walks through the creek, fossil hunting. Steve also enjoyed a competitive game of ping pong and a good game of cards, with all of his family cherishing the memory of his contagious laugh during many amazing games. Afterward, there would be Steve's favorite lemonade or his famous malts to enjoy.
Steve will be forever loved and cherished by his wife, Connie; four children: Debbie (Troy) Meyer, Nikki (Tim) Barker, Kevin (Jenny) Anderegg, and Gina (Tim) Brown; 10 grandchildren; siblings: Norma Walker, Joyce Anderegg, John (Karen) Anderegg, and Susan (Gary) Aulwes; and many other relatives and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Oakley and Josephine; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Owen and Geraldine Kann; and brother-in-law, Greg Kilstofte.
The family wishes to extend a huge thank you to the friends and neighbors for their labor, food, visits, and countless acts of kindness. Also, thank you to St. Croix Hospice and the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Oncology team. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to Dale Swift Foundation. The goal of the Dale Swift Fund is to help Iowa cancer patients with the little things (and occasionally big things) during their cancer journey.
Steve will be most remembered for having a kind and loving servant's heart, with a sincere belief in the goodness of people.
