Susan Kuempel

Susan Catherine Kuempel was born the daughter of Robert and Glee (Davis) Kuempel, July 20, 1958, in Guttenberg. She passed away Monday, December 11, 2006, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a brief illness. Susan graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1976, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Luther College 1980, and attended Hawkeye Community College. She worked as a rural mail carrier in Kansas, and for the City of Guttenberg as a dispatcher and part time librarian. Susan was active in St. Marys Church in the choir and as a Eucharist Minister. She enjoyed walking in the woods, ginseng hunting, berry picking, gardening, restoring her home and furniture, reading, and baking. She is survived by her mother, Glee; three brothers, Timothy (Kathy) Kuempel of Anita, IA., Patrick Kuempel of Guttenberg, and Peter (Isabel) Kuempel of Purcellville, Virginia; friend, Robert Livingston of Guttenberg; three nephews, Matthew Kuempel, Brian Kuempel, and Juan Kuempel; her Beagle, Maggie; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert. In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Susan's memory.Visitation: Wednesday 4:00- 7:00 P.M.
