Survivors include his 5 sons: Brother Marvin Kluesner of Silver Spring, MD, Sylvester Jr. of Dubuque, IA, David (Marilyn) of Farley, Eugene of Washington, D.C., and Leo (Julie) of Worthington; 7 daughters: Rosemary (Arthur) Naber of New Vienna, Dorothy (Eugene) Kramer of Worthington, Lois (Robert) Tauke of Cascade, Joyce (Charles) Urbain of Davenport, Arlene (Dale) Fangmann and Bonnie (George) Heisler, both of Farley and Mary Brenda (Richard) Ludwig of Petersburg; sisters-in-law: Florabelle "Babe" Kluesner of Farley, Dorothy (Larry) Lucas of Dyersville, Agnes Steines and Viola Kaufman both of Dubuque; brothers-in-law: Elmer (Marilyn) Engling and Russ Gantenbein both of Dubuque; 31 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie in 2002, a son Mark, in 1959, 3 brothers: Lawrence, Merlin and Bernard and a sister, Mary Catherine Kluesner Sylvester was born on April 1, 1919 in Holy Cross, Iowa, the son of Peter and Katherine (Heiderscheit) Kluesner. He married Marie Engling on November 11, 1941 in North Buena Vista, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Holy Cross and Worthington areas until they moved to Dyersville in 1982. Whitey was a humble farmer who had a strong devotion to his family and Catholic faith.
