Thomas Allan Deutmeyer, 73, of Petersburg, Iowa died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O'Connor will officiate. Tom was born October 15, 1941 in Petersburg, Iowa on the family farm, the son of Gregor and Olive (Lueck) Deutmeyer. He married Elizabeth Hermsen on November 14, 1964 in New Vienna, Iowa. Tom enjoyed music, astronomy, building models, landscaping and spending time on the family farm. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, 3 children: Alan Deutmeyer of Beaverton, OR, Thomas G. (Kelley) Deutmeyer of Petersburg, Erin (Travis) Christiansen of Waukee, IA, 5 grandchildren: Jesse, Samuel, Josie, Shane Deutmeyer and Blake Christiansen, sister, Ruth Sellner from Manchester, in-laws: Germaine Deutmeyer of Dyersville, Richard (Eileen) Hermsen of Colesburg, Helen (Eldon) Gaul of Petersburg, Bernice (Ken) Vorwald, New Vienna, Roger (Grace) Hermsen of Manchester, Gladys (Harry) Burkle of Dyersville, Dianne Hermsen and Art Hermsen both of New Vienna. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Roger, James and David Deutmeyer, in-laws: Joseph Sellner, Harry Hermsen and Joyce Hermsen.
