Velma White

Velma Irene (Martin) White, age 88, of Elkader, IA, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, at the Central Community Hospital in Elkader, IA. She was born the daughter of Floyd and Annabelle (Boal) Martin on January 7, 1923, in Epworth Iowa. Velma received her education from the Dubuque Senior School System. On August 30, 1941, she was united in marriage with Edwin White at the Grand Avenue Church in Dubuque. This blessed union brought them five children. Raising her family and keeping a home was a full time job in itself for Velma. In her younger years she was an avid gardener, providing fresh produce for her family. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading and spending time with her cat Squirt. Survivors include; two daughters, Pam (Gary) Willie of Elkader and Gayle Goranson; two sons, Mark (Denise) White and Nelson (Debra) White; 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Diane White; two grandchildren, Lisa Ann & Timothy; one sister Lorraine Bolsinger.Visitation: Tuesday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
