Vera K Berns

Vera K. (Koehn) Berns was born the daughter of Robert and Elsa (Maehl) Koehn on February 16, 1918, on the home farm near Elkader. She passed away Friday, April 28, 2006, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Vera received her education from the local country school and was a homemaker for many years. On June 30, 1937, she was united in marriage with Alvin Berns at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Elkader. To this union they were blessed with two sons. Vera enjoyed being active with the St Joseph Rosary Society and the Mission Society. She was a member of the 500 club and also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, L' Dean (Bev) Berns and Glenn (Linda) Berns both of Garnavillo; one sister, Bernice (LaVern) Haas of Guttenberg; nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and fourteen step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters Rita and Violet; one brother Harley and one great granddaughter Jessica Otto.Visitation: Sunday 5:00-8:00 P.M.
