. GARNAVILLO, Iowa Vincent J. Hoeger 93, of Garnavillo, died peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Prairie Maison, Prairie du Chien, WI. A Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo, with Rev. Marvin Bries celebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Garnavillo. Friends may call from 4 to7 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, where there will be a wake service. Vincent was born on Nov. 6, 1919, son of Edward and Veronica (Berns) Hoeger. He attended St. Josephs Catholic School and farmed north of Garnavillo. Vincent married Inez G. Brunsman Oct. 13, 1947, in Luxemburg, IA. They raised five children. Vincent was a man of profound faith in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He had a special devotion to the Mass, the Holy Eucharist, the Sacraments, to Mary Mother of God, and to the Rosary which helped him enter more fully into the Gospels of Life. Vincent was a kind gentleman with humility. He was an exceptional and loving husband and father who took great care to set a good example for his family whom he loved dearly. He was a humanitarian that placed emphasis in the care of his livestock, land, and farming equipment. Vincent did not waste, he knew the meaning of stewardship, and put it into practice in his daily life. Those left with the peace of knowing that Vincent now enjoys the full vision of the Holy Trinity include his wife, Inez, of Prairie du Chien; five children, Dennis (Martha) Hoeger, of Prairie du Chien, James (Amy) Hoeger of Garnavillo, Sharon (Ken) Schoenauer, of Clinton, IA., Randy (Anne Marie) Hoeger and Alan (Sue) Hoeger both of Prairie du Chien, 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters; John and Veronica Hageman of New Vienna, and Clarence and Irma Meyer of Monona, one brother, Gerald Hoeger of Garnavillo, and brothers-in-law Ray Brunsman and Vernon and Norma Brunsman both of Dyersville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Veronica Hoeger; two brothers, Herman and Lambert Hoeger; two sisters, Martha and Loretta Hoeger brother-in law Louis Brunsman, and sister-in-law Alma Brunsman. In lieu of flowers and gifts, Vincent had requested that memorials be given to the charity of your choice or to simply do a random act of kindness in Vincents memory. Vincent had repeatedly expressed appreciation for the dedicated care of Father Marvin Bries, Father James Weighner, Father Greg Bahl, Lucy Rodenberg, Avis Smith, Dr. Dehart and his staff, and the staffs of Lori Knapp Inc, Great River Care Center, Prairie Maison, Prairie Memorial Hospital and Meals on Wheels, and Home Health of Prairie du Chien for their loving care.
