Wilbur R. Schrader

MANCHESTER, IOWA

Wilbur “Bill” R. Schrader, 87, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Greeley, Iowa where military honors will be accorded. A celebration of life will follow at the Greeley Commercial Park.

Bill was born on November 24, 1936, in Manchester, Iowa to Roy and Edith (Zirtzman) Schrader. He married Ann Weber on April 15, 1961 in Greeley, Iowa. Four children were born to this union.

Bill worked at GTE for 40 years and transitioned to Northeast Iowa Telephone with Kory Wulfekuhle and Rick Appleby. He enjoyed his Hump Day Coffee at the Legion and his 2 o’clock meetings at Blue Collar in Manchester. He loved his back porch where he could enjoy the sunshine and watch the trains. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; he spent countless days and weekends at their events.

Survivors include his children: Todd (Shelly) Schrader of Manchester, Daniel (Linda Burkle) Schrader of Earlville, Susan (Lyle) Theisen of Dyersville; eight grandchildren: Danica Schrader, Darris (Brock) Morris, Addison Schrader, Blake (Natalie Kuehni) Schrader, Landon, Lauren, Lillianna, and Laci Theisen; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Marilyn Olinger; in-laws: Carlyn Wessel, Mary (Tim) Cooney, Michael (Ginny) Weber, Loras (Carol) Weber, Joanne (Peter) Weber, Linda (Kevin) Fergesen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, a son, Timothy; his parents; in-laws: Sharon Mattern, Joe (Lavonne) Weber, Robert Weber, and Jim Olinger.
