MONTICELLO, IOWA

William A. Foley Jr., 93, of Monticello, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, with family by his side in Monticello.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Monticello, Iowa.

Bill was born on February 9, 1930 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the son of William III and Sarah (Hay) Foley. He married Marie Thompson on December 25, 1950 in Chicago Heights, IL.

Bill was a proud marine who served during the Korean Conflict. Bill worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a Lineman and Switchman over 37 years in the Chicago area upon his return from the Marine Corps. He enjoyed model railroading and was a computer enthusiast having built his first computer from the Heathkit Company. He loved taking nostalgic trips by train to various regions of the country.

Survivors include his children: Susan O’Rourke of Monticello, William V (Pam) Foley of Monticello; grandson, William VI (Courtney) Foley of Los Angeles, CA; and great-grandson, William VII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie in 2012, and a son-in-law, Mark O'Rourke.
