William Sutton

William John Sutton was born the son of Clifford and Ruth (Splies) Sutton on January 31, 1929 on the family farm near Garnavillo. He passed away at the age of 78, on January 28, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with his family at his side. William graduated from the Garnavillo High School and farmed the family farm until his retirement. On December 28, 1954 he was united in marriage with Shirley Mae Heins at Postville Iowa. This union was blessed with 4 children. William served his church faithfully as a long time member serving on the council, committees, and leading bible studies. Throughout his life he enjoyed many hobbies including, roller-skating, dancing, playing cards table tennis and other games, traveling, riding his J.D. tractor and spending time with his family and friends. He was also very interested in family genealogy. He will be sadly missed by many friends and neighbors. Williams memory will be forever cherished by his wife Shirley, children Sandra Sue (David) Hilgemann of Cedar Falls; Robert William (Audrey) Sutton of Northampton Pennsylvania; Merry Christine (John) Sullivan of Mt. Vernon Washington; Linda Louise (Dana) Jensen of North English; six grandchildren; Marshall and Louis Hilgemann; Michael and Cassandra Sutton; Danny and Peter Sullivan; and two sisters, Katherine (Herbert) Schmidt of Waterville, and Jeanette (Harold) Vogt of Farmersburg.
