Obituary Yvonne Romilda Eileen Landt, age 82, of Clayton, IA, went to Heaven Thursday, January 30, 2020, from the Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA. She was born on April 9, 1937 in Postville, IA, the daughter of Lloyd and Aurelia (Heins) Schultz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Postville, IA. On June 26, 1955, Yvonne was married to Dean Landt. To this union, they had two children, Shelby and Shane. The couple lived and farmed south of Luana. Dean passed away suddenly on October 9, 1972, at the age of 36. After Deans passing, Yvonne continued farming with her two children until the late 70s. In her years on the farm, Yvonne was a very active and proud member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. There, she taught Sunday School, was Sunday School superintendent, president of the Ladies Aid, and also taught confirmation class. After moving off the farm in 1977, Yvonne began waitressing at the White Springs Supper Club through the 80s. She was an Avon Lady and also taught ball room dancing during those years, and to this day, is still remembered for the dancing skills she taught. In 1978, she moved to Florida for a short time where she worked at the Miami Herald. After moving back to Iowa, she continued teaching ball room dancing and waitressing at White Springs. In 1995, Yvonne opened up the Brake Room in Clayton, IA where she enjoyed cooking food and serving the truckers. As a resident of Clayton, she also worked as City Clerk for many years. In 2000, some of her most memorable years were when she began working at Paradise Valley Campgrounds (owned and operated by her son Shane and wife Sandy). Yvonne was well known by all the seasonal campers at Paradise Valley where she worked in the office for 18 years. There wasnt a day that you didnt see Yvonnes morning and evening Valley patrol drive-thrus of the campground. Yvonne (or Grandma as many called her) took pride in working at the Valley and did so until her retirement. Yvonne was an incredibly proud mother, grandma and great-grandma. She never missed an opportunity to share heart filled stories of her family. She was a talented writer and poet. All that knew her, knew she certainly was not afraid to voice her honest opinion. Yvonne was an avid Fox News viewer and a dedicated Republican. You never wanted to mention politics unless you were well informed and ready for a debate. Those left to cherish her memory are her 2 children, Shelby Landt (Garnavillo) and Shane (Sandy) Landt of McGregor; 7 grandchildren, Aarica (Trent) Berns, Megan (Richard) Boyer, Kyle Eastman (Jaimie Schmelzer), Travis Landt, Aaron (Tricia) Landt, Jared (Kate) Landt, Shannon Landt (Christopher Junk); 12 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Alivia and Aspyn Landt, Aurelia and Grayson Berns, Jackson, Brooklyn, Colton and Luke Landt, Auston Lind and Koyier Junk, and Aubrey Boyer; 3 sisters, Arlene Pollock, Judy Nelson & Sharon Becker.
