Zelda Hedeman

Zelda Mary (Gull) Hedeman died Thursday, August 17, 2006, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Zelda was born the daughter of John and Alberta (Hansel) Gull on March 12, 1912 in rural Elkport. Zelda's family homesteaded in Saskatchewan and Manitoba Canada in the early 1900's. In the late 1920's the family moved back to Iowa and Zelda graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1930. On June 1, 1932 she was united in marriage with Embert Hedeman in Galena Ill. Zelda was a homemaker and mother to three handsome sons to whom she was devoted. Later in her life she worked at various jobs, one being Head of Housekeeping for the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She held that position for 15 years. Zelda was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, bird watching, her cats, Jinxy and Ernie, and shopping. Above all, she treasured her faith and her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Roger (Loretta) Hedeman of Hulmeville, Pa; Donald (Frances) Hedeman of Dubuque, and one sister, Florence Leonard of Guttenberg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Zelda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Norman (Betty) of Crestview, Florida; one sister Norma; and five brothers, Jack, Harry, Otto, Howard and Roy Gull.Funeral Service: Wednesday 10:00 A.M.
