Zella "Peppy" Mahowald

Zella "Peppy" Ruth Mahowald was born the daughter of John and Frances (Wolter) Mahowald on October 7, 1928, in Guttenberg. She was called to heaven on Friday, March 3, 2006, from the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a long illness. Peppy graduated from St. Marys High School and was a proud waitress and homemaker for many years. She was an avid bicycler, pedaling around the streets of Guttenberg and enjoyed cooking shows and her soap operas. Peppy was a very well organized person, keeping every room neat and straight. She also had a special gift of interior decorating. Peppy decorated her windows every year for all the holiday seasons using her flair of creativity. Peppy will be sadly missed by her two sisters, Adel (Clyde) Parker of Guttenberg and Betty Jane Garaghty of Elkader; nieces, Bonnie Clinton, Tammy Schaefer, Cathy Hoover, Peggy Weiland, Sherri Koenig, Patti Marcov; nephews, Ricky Parker, Scott Parker, James Garaghty and Kevin Garaghty; many cousins and close friends.
